Employee Concessions


Since 2009, the County has asked its employee bargaining units to re-evaluate their existing labor agreements to determine where savings could be achieved to help reduce a structural deficit created by a downturned economy and collapsed housing market.  The following outlines concessions that have been received as of August 23, 2011.

Board of Supervisors

Concessions: since April 2010

Employees: 5

·   3% EPMC (Employer Paid Member Contribution) reduction implemented in April 2010

·   2nd 3% EPMC reduction in January 2012

·   Reduction in employer Cafeteria Plan contribution from 80% to 75% of the Kaiser family rate

·   2nd Tier Retirement pending similar agreements with non-safety employees

·   No COLA in FY2009/10

·   No COLA in FY2010/11

·   MIP eliminated in June 2010 (up to 15% for department heads and up to 10% for assistant department heads)

·   3% EPMC reduction implemented in April 2010

·   2nd 3% EPMC reduction in January 2012

·   Reduction in employer Cafeteria Plan contribution from 80% to 75% of the Kaiser family rate

·   2nd Tier Retirement pending similar agreements with non-safety employees
